The good news is that if your video game has not been opened, then you will have full access to Target’s standard return policy within 30 days of purchase. If your video game has been opened and/or used, it will only be eligible for exchange (not return) and can only be exchanged for the same title for either the same or a different gaming platform. The only way that you can return and receive a full refund for a video game purchased at Target is if you return it unopened and with a valid receipt within 30 days of purchase. Within that 30-day window, there are unfortunately some additional restrictions placed on video game returns.
According to Target’s website, “electronics and entertainment items must be returned/exchanged within 30 days.” Unfortunately, there are a few exceptions to this generous policy. The first thing to know about Target’s return policy is that Target accepts returns on most unopened items within 90 days of purchase if the customer can provide proof of purchase.
